Review: Shutter Island

Usually I tend to spend quite a bit of time with movie reviews, but for this one…. not so much.
I was somehow under the “Horror Movie” impression going in and came out with a “Psychological.” I thought it would fit under “Psychological Thriller,” but I cannot say it was that thrilling or edge of seat [...]

Starbucks to offer “il secchio di caffè” in Washington, DC

Many of you have heard that Starbucks has offered a 32 oz beverage size to compete with McDonalds. Termed the “trenta,” this size is being test marketed in California.
We in the Nation’s Capital are calling for a larger size for those long commutes into the city. We suggest the “secchio.” Italian for Bucket or Pail, [...]

The End of Blockbuster?????

Late Fees? Kind of.
I was at my local Blockbuster Video and saw some pretty yellow signs posted all over the store. Here are the key points of the changes…

As of 3/1/10, Blockbuster has basically ended “the end of late fees.”
Movie rentals are now all for 5 days, regardless of newness.
Movies kept past the due date [...]

Backpack Suggestion?

I had a Swiss Army brand back pack for a little over a year and the main pocket bottom stitching has come apart and I have a big hole in it. I have come to expect great quality based on the Swiss Army knife I have had for close to 20 years, but don’t expect [...]

Read All Fine Print in Rental Lease

I will leave the management company anonymous as it would be my luck that they would sue me for saying the following….
Read the entire lease in the presence of the leasing agent.
While I don’t usually read the entire lease, I will from this point on. I will also do it while the leasing agent is [...]

Snow in DC :)

Okay…I am hoping that if you live in the area, or watched the news across the country, you know that DC received close to 16″ of snow between Friday noon and 5 PM today.
Shopping
Making trips to the local supermarket were fun. Not really to buy anything, but to see how barren the shelves were. I [...]

Sasquach on Metro?

I could not help staring at what appeared to be a brown bare foot on the metro last night. In fact, I had to ask the gentleman wearing them “Are you from this planet?” All jokes aside, I was strangely intriqued by his footwar and looking at the rest of his clothing, seeing some elite, [...]

$585 for a Homemade Organic Blueberry Pie

While I cannot go into detail to protect privacy, I was talking with a friend the other day and they mentioned that as a chef they are able to charge close to $600 for a Homemade Pie. I just thought this was both astounding and amazing. I still am in disbelief. But…if you produce a [...]

Golden cows?

All cows going organic?
Last night I stopped at the local Harris Teeter grocery store to get milk and check out my staples and occasional temptations for sales. While I love raspberries, I refuse to spend over $2.50 a pint. I have been known to stock up when the price drops below $2. [...]
